How Emsella Works
The Emsella chair for incontinence works by sending HIFEM energy to the treatment area. This energy activates motor neurons and stimulates the contraction of targeted muscles. During each treatment, your pelvic floor muscles will rapidly contract. By the time your 30-minute procedure ends, your pelvic floor muscles will have contracted thousands of times. These contractions are more rapid and intense than you could possibly create on your own by simply doing Kegel exercises.

Emsella Treatments: What to Expect
Before your first treatment, we’ll sit down with you for a consultation. During this initial meeting, we’ll discuss your pelvic floor concerns. When the chair begins to vibrate, you may feel a tingling sensation. This is normal and occurs in conjunction with the contraction of your pelvic floor muscles. You shouldn’t feel any pain during your session, so there’s no need for sedation. You’re welcome to listen to music, read a book, or simply relax until your treatment ends. Don’t bring your cell phone into the treatment room with you. The powerful Emsella chair magnet can damage electronics.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
Don’t wear any metal accessories or jewelry to your appointment. You should also choose clothing that doesn’t have any metal zippers or buttons. The Emsella Kegel chair uses the same type of magnet used in MRI machines. Therefore, any metal will interact with the chair.
We recommend that you wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. This will help you remain as comfortable as possible throughout your appointment. Don’t forget to bring a book with you or some Bluetooth headphones so you can keep yourself entertained while you sit.

How Many Emsella Treatments Will I Need?
We recommend different numbers of treatments based on each patient’s needs. We may recommend anywhere between one and six treatment sessions to help you reach your treatment goals. We space each session 2-3 days apart. After you receive your initial series of treatments, you may need maintenance treatments every few months. These may help you maintain your results.
Will I Notice an Improvement Right Away?
You may notice some improvement after just one Emsella session. However, many people require a series of multiple sessions before they get the results they want. To maintain your stronger pelvic floor muscles, we recommend continuing your Emsella treatments as recommended and performing Kegel exercises at home.
Am I a Good Candidate for Emsella?
Emsella is an FDA-approved device used to treat men and women of any age. You may be a good candidate if you have urinary incontinence. This treatment is also a great option if sex is painful for you or if you need to strengthen your pelvic floor after prostate cancer.
